Starting revision is often harder than revising itself. The content feels overwhelming, you do not know where to begin, and it is tempting to keep putting it off. This guide gives you a clear process for getting started with GCSE Science and Maths revision.
Audit what you know
Before you start revising, work out what you actually need to revise. Get your exam board specification and go through each topic. Rate your confidence honestly - what do you know well, what is shaky, what have you forgotten entirely?
Prioritise ruthlessly
Not all topics carry equal weight. Focus first on high-mark topics you are weak on. There is no point perfecting topics you already know while ignoring ones that will cost you marks.
Create a simple schedule
Do not over-plan. A simple weekly schedule showing which topics you will cover each day is enough. Build in flexibility for topics that take longer than expected. Review and adjust your plan each week.
Start with one session
Do not try to build perfect habits from day one. Just complete one revision session today. Make it short - 20 to 30 minutes. Use active recall. That single session is your foundation.
Build from there
Tomorrow, do another session. Then another. Consistency beats intensity. It is better to revise for 30 minutes every day than for four hours once a week.
